Stars Galore

I got these awesome star rhinestones at this nail supply store that I go to (probably too often lol) and I've been want to use them forEVER...ok maybe not that long, but for a minute, but I didn't know how I wanted to incorporate them without it being for 4th of July nails, so I just painted and glued hee hee. Right before I wrote this post another idea came to mind, so more stars to come!

P.S. super pumped about Breaking Dawn release! whoot whoot, anyone gonna brave the midnight showing ?? I don't know if I can do it...maybe...TEAM EDWARD!

For the base of the thumb and pinky I used Orly's "Liquid Vinyl". For the base of the index and ring finger I used a base of Sally Hansen SALON's "All the White Stuff", covered with a coat of Verity's "Hot Young Green". Those four  fingers have the tips coated with Santee's "Angel Pink Glitter". The middle finger's base coat is OPI's "DS Radiance", with a tip done in Orly's "Liquid Vinyl". All tips were outlined with star-shaped rhinestones and topped with a coat of Seche Vite.

Paisley-onic!

Hola! How is everyone? Ready for the weekend? I am and its first friday (downtown we have this artsy type of event every first friday)! I have totally been getting my art on! I'm in fashion illustration this semester and boy what a difference in my drawings. I'm only mid-semester and I've learned alot. I'm super pumped now though because we've started color media!! whoohoo! I did an awesome dress (perhaps I'll post??). But I definitely can't wait to see what she has us do on our last project so I can compare with my first drawing...YIKES! Anyway I was feeling paisley so I decided to give it a shot. It actually came out better than I thought. The play on color, especially that rich pink background, really help the paisleys to pop. Hope yal like them!

I used Pure Ice' "Gossip" for the base. For bottom color of the paisley on the thumb I used Orly's "Green With Envy". For the top layer and polka dots I used Orly's "Snowcone". I used the opposite pattern on all other nails. For the yellow, on the pointer and ring finger, I used China Glaze's "Lemon Fizz". All topped with coats of Seche Vite.

Here's my thumb! Heehee

Ninja Mode

Today was my first singing lesson ever! Which I was totally pumped and nervous about...YIKES! My instructor was super nice (which always helps) and she told me some things that were new to me--I thought I was an alto, turns out I'm actually a soprano. Who woulda thunk lol. All in all, not only did I learn some things but I had fun, I can't wait til next week--let the journey begin.

To the nails heehee...

Hiiiyy-Yaaaa! Gmail has this mail theme of ninjas, that I think is totally awesome (the Tea House is one of my favs too heehee). I like to see all the different scenes that they have the characters doing and sometimes I even change time zones just to try and catch a scene I haven't seen before, I know--that's nerdy lol. So as I was looking at my polishes I noticed I had this super rich blue that would be perfect as the background for my ninja theme. So I painted a ninja with nun chucks, one posing, two ninjas peeking, a couple of weapons, and a Japanese rising flag. I also tried my hand at drawing/writing Japanese characters, I think they turned out pretty good (on my left pinky it means 'friend' and on my right thumb it means 'love'). I was bummed that it was so rich in color that it was hard to see the designs on my nails. :( To solve that dilemma I just did the base color for my other hand in a beautiful aqua-blue, which turned out just as nice.  Maybe I'll do something with that Tea House theme too :)

For the base I used Orly's 'Bailamos'. For the ninja eyes, body and the Japanese characters I used Wet & Wild's Wild Shine 'Black'. For the face of the ninjas I used Sally Hansen's SALON' 'All the White Stuff'. For the nun chuck handles I used So Easy Stripe Rite's 'Copper'. For the chain of the nun chucks and the blade I used Orly's 'Dazzle'. For the rays of the Japanese rising flag I used Orly's 'Poison Apple', all topped off with 2 coats of Seche Vite.

For the base I used Nina Ultra Pro's 'Blu Blaze'. Don't Worry Be Happy

Don't get mad, get glad and put a smile on your face. Heehee. I wanted to see how many 'smileys' I could think of and it was harder than I thought. Just when I thought I had one, I looked at the one next to it and saw it was practically the same lol. Anyhoo I did a happy hand and a mad/sad hand. I bet there were a few out there I forgot. Next on the list is to figure out how to keep the black from running when I out the top coat on...

For the base I used Nubar's 'Hot Yellow'. For the smiles/eyes/brows/sunglasses I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar's 'Black'. For the teeth I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar's 'Basic White'. For the hearts and tongue I used KISS Brush-On Nail Art Paint 'Red' and L.A. Colors Art Deco's 'Red Glitter'. For the tears on the pinky I used KISS Brush-On Nail Art Paint 'Soft Blue', all topped off with Seche Vite.

Dotted Polka

I'm taking a fashion design class and great news 'dots are the new stripes'. I think both patterns are timeless and fun, there are sooooooooooo many combinations you can do with both. I used this rich, hot pink and tangerine together, they complement one another. You almost can't tell the one nail is a different color, its like a surprise lol. I think I'll be doing more with dots whoot whoot. This fall season its all about the dots. Dot on...

Dot off...p.s. my nails got super brittle and started breaking so I decided to just cut them all off and start all over booooooo....okay Dot on...

For the base of the thumb, pointer, middle, and pinky I used Orly's 'Truly Tangerine' and for the base of the ring finger I used Orly's 'Purple Crush'. For the dots I used Orly's 'Truly Tangerine' and  'Purple Crush'. All topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

Carpet-teer

I just returned from an awesome trip in Orlando, FL. I was trying to do this post while I was there but it wasn't working out for me booooooooo. There was so much inspiration there from my adventures to Epcot and the drama at Magic Kingdom, all the way to the lobby of my hotel, and the great time I had people-watching (come on, we all do it lol). The hotel had some awesome carpet (as far as pattern/design goes) hence the title Carpet-teer. What was so crazy was I had only brought four colors with me and they resembled the colors of the carpet so close I couldn't help but to do this design. Sadly, I don't think I took enough pictures, there was literally a different design on every floor. Even the furniture was inspiring, beautiful lamp fixtures, cool lawn furniture...perhaps for future nail art ideas. Of course I won't forget my time at the beach, I have some ideas for the trip alone heeheehee.

My inspiration
The carpet on the lobby floor of the Hilton Orlando

My nails

For the base I used China Glaze's 'Metallic Muse'. For the stripes I used Zoya's 'Kelly' and Zoya's 'Pippa'. For the flowers I used Nina Ultra Pro's 'Punki Pink' and Zoya's 'Pippa', all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

I ready for another vacation already lol

Flame-ON

The title is an ode to Chris Evans' character in Fantastic Four, whom I'll be checking out in Captain America this weekend (heeheehee, I'm sure the movie will be good too). I love a good movie, although I guess I should bring the hype down because those are the ones that tend to disappoint the most. Anyhoo, I guess I should be talking about smores as oppose to movies, my flames are more like campfires and not superheroes. There I go again with the food reference lol. Perhaps I should talk about food I know, I've never had a smore, only toasted marshmallows. I'm hoping next time we make it to the campsite we'll remember all the ingredients and make some traditional smores, over a campfire--ooo like the fire on my nails

For the base I used Orly's 'Liquid Vinyl'. For the first layer of fire, I used Orly's 'Poison Apple', the second layer, OPI's 'A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find', and the third layer, Nubar's 'Hot Yellow', all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

Tied-DYnamically

Oh the joys of experiments, from creating some awesome chemical in chemistry class to trying out every hot pink til you find the one that's most visible from across the room, experiments are FUN! I still remember making a tie dye shirt my sophomore year in highschool (and yes I still have it) that was probably one of the best assignments in the class. (I also enjoyed the one where I wrote/sang a song about 'iron' from the chart of elements, our assignment was to 'present' an element and I got stuck with iron, so I had to think outside the box---embarrassing yet fun and I'd do it again) Tie-dyed items seem to be popping up everywhere and I've always wanted to create another shirt, so instead I painted my nails, at least the way I interpreted tie-dye. I'm gonna continue to perfect this one, I believe I will be able to capture tie-dye...I can do it! (in my Rob Schneider voice lol)

As a base I used Sally Hansen SALON's 'All the White Stuff'. For the 'dyes' I used all China Glaze neon colors, 'Yellow Polka Dot Bikini'--hot yellow, 'Pool Party'--hot pink, 'Sun Worshiper'--hot orange, 'Towel Boy Toy'--hot blue, and 'Kiwi Cool-ada'--hot green, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

They're Magically Delicious!

Blue half moons, purple horseshoes, pink hearts, pots of gold, and green clovers can only make you think of one thing....Lucky Charms! Yum! Theres nothing like a bland oat cereal spunked up with some colorful marshmallows. The marshmallows have changed up so much over the years I didn't know which ones I wanted, so I picked the ones I remembered the most as a kid--although I believe the pot of gold is a fairly new edition, but who doesn't want any gold, especially a pot full. Heehee. I've been itching to do this design and I'm not sure why (my favorite cereal is actually Cinnamon Toast Crunch) but I kept puttin it off because I was so intimidated by Lucky (the leprechaun). I don't wanna toot my own horn or anything but I'm very pleased with how he came out (toot toot). They're always after me lucky charms!

I used Orly's 'Poison Apple' as a base. For Lucky, on the thumb, I used China Glaze's 'Sunset Sail' for his face, Nina Ultra Pro's 'Guava' and Orly's 'Truly Tangerine', mixed together for his hair, Nail Art Pen by Nubar--Basic White for his eyes and mouth, Nail Art Pen by Nubar--Black for his eyes, and Sinful Color's 'HD Nails' for his hat and shirt. For "Lucky Charms" I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar--Sunny Yellow. For the rainbow on the pinky I used Orly's 'Snowcone', Zoya's 'Pippa', and Orly's 'It's Not You, Its Me', and for the clover, on the pointer, I used Sinful Color's 'HD Nails', all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

Happy Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July!! Sure I love me some bbq but all I really care about is seeing the fireworks....whoot whoot-- oh and of course I'm excited about having the day off of work too...whoot whoot lol. Anyhow I figure what better way to celebrate than to do my nails YAY! So red, white, and blue with stars, stripes and fireworks (or at least my attempt at it heehee--I have time to work on that for next year). Me being all patriotic and stuff ...

For the bases I used Avon's Speed Dry 'Red Rouge', OPI's 'Alpine Snow', and Orly's 'Royal Navy'. Using the nail art brush I also used these colors to make the stars, stripes and the top block of the American flag. ABSTRACTion of Justice

Funny thing this time around is that I knew the title of this post before I knew what design I was gonna do. Usually after I'm ready to post the next design, I'm struggling and straining to think of a title for the post. Perhaps I should try this more often, it might be a fun way to crank up my creative juices. I better start my list lol. My mom actually picked this vibrant blue base color and I just ran with it, of course I had to add something to make them sparkle heeheehee, so I added some rhinestones to my middle finger. Anyhoo on to the picture...

For the base I used OPI's 'No Room for the Blues'. For the yellow accents I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar--'Sunny Yellow' and for the black accents I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar--'Black', with a few rhinestones added for some sparkle, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

Twirly Whirly

Once again I couldn't choose just one so instead I chose three (me and my color lol), anything bright and shiny I'm down for....well it has to be worked the right way. The idea I was going for was color oozing from one nail to the other, like a lava lamp, I think it was better conveyed on my left hand. I actually used three different base colors but it looks more like I used pink on one and green on the other...Oooo Green Lantern, anyone going to see that or going to see Ryan Reynolds I should say heeheehee?

For the base of the thumb and index finger I used Nubar's 'Hot Yellow', swirled with Nina Ultra Pro's 'Leaf Me Alone' and outlined with Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint--Rock Star. For the base of the middle, ring, and pinky I used Nina Ultra Pro's 'Leaf Me Alone', swirled with Nubar's 'Hot Yellow' and outlined with Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint--Rock Star, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

For the base of the pinky, ring, and middle finger I used Orly's 'Va Va Voom' and swirled Nubar's 'Hot Yellow' outlined in Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint--Rock Star. For the base of the index and thumb I used Nubar's 'Hot Yellow', swirled with Orly's 'Va Va Voom' and outlined with Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint--Rock Star, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

K's Flower Power

My sister's goddaughter wanted me to do her nails, I took one look and she has these gorgeous long nail beds so how could I say no, right. I lucked out because all she wanted was some flowers (although I wouldn't have mind doing anything else). Kierra was super cooperative and even let me have fun with dots lol, and I added some rhinestones to make em sparkle--everyone enjoys a lil sparkle (I know I do). Anyways she picked this beautiful vibrant blue and another blue sparkle to top the base. I don't think you can see it's brightness in the pictures. Flower Power!

I used Nina Ultra Pro's 'Blu Blaze' as a base, topped with a coat of Finger Paints 'Laugh My Art Off'. I used Sally Hansen SALON's 'All the White Stuff' and a dotting tool to make the flowers, for the leaves I used Kiss Nail Art Paint--Beach Green. For the decorative dots I used the Nail Art Pen by Nubar 'Basic White' fine point pen, and under the white dots I used Kiss Nail Art Paint--Rock Star, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

Au NatuRAL

There's a first time for everything (well almost everything) and this is one of those times...my first time working with real flowers. I used purple, pink, and really tiny yellow flowers (they almost look like baby's breath but smaller). It was a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be. The challenge was not only to pick up the flowers but the place them exactly how I wanted them and to not break them. Talk about sweating bullets lol. I'll be honest it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but I'm going to definitely give it another shot. Gosh darn you flowers! You win this time but I got next....dah duh duuuh (you know like the dramatic music in the movies...or not lol)

For the base I used Orly's 'Viridian Vinyl', for the dots I used Nail Art Pen by Nubar 'Sunny Yellow' and I used real flowers (YAY!), all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

Cherry Bomb

Who doesn't like a lil cherry pie? In all honesty I don't, crazy huh lol. Anyhow I do like cherry patterns, I think they're super cute on anything, whether its a shirt or jewelry, a keychain or a hairbow (Oooo some cherry shoes would be totally awesome, but if yal don't know by now I'm tellin ya, I LOVE shoes!!!!). I just wanted to try my hand at some sweet cherry nails, if only it was cherry-scented polish that would be totally awesome too *sniff sniff* MMmmmm...

As a base I used Orly's 'Cotton Candy', for the cherry I used Kiss Brush-On Nail Art--Red and a dotting tool and for the stem/leaves I used L.A. Colors Art Deco--Black, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

I tried to hold my hands a different way but the right one got all weird on me lol, better luck next time

I'm A Barbie Girl

...in a Barbie world. Life in plastic, it's fantastic! You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere. Imagination, life is your creation. Come on Barbie lets go party! Anyone else remember that song by Aqua back in the day lol. As a kid growing up, one of my favorite past times was meeting up with all my friends and playing barbies. We would all get together and bring all the accessories we had and combine them and we'd have quite a Barbie world...ahhh the good 'ol days *sigh* lol. I thought about all the awesome gadgets and gizmos Barbie had and how bad I wanted a pink Corvette just like hers (still dreaming that one, lol maybe one day). On to the nails...

Its Just a Little KISS

Oh how we all need a lil chocolate every now and then, at this rate I'll at least have it all the time for a couple of days lol. I would have to say my favorite HERSHEY'S is the bar with the almonds....YUMMMMMmmm. I got a bar for my b-day---somebody knew heehee. I don't like how they try to experiment every so often by adding different flavors to the KISSES, like they have a caramel one out that's pretty tasty, and they had a s'mores one that was pretty interesting too. Hope yal enjoy the chocolate, I know I did lol.

I used a base of Zoya's 'Angelina' and Sally Hansen SALON's 'All the White Stuff'. For the lips I used Kiss Brush-On Nail Art--Red and L.A. Colors Art Deco--Red Glitter to make them sparkle. For the uncovered kiss I used Zoya's 'Angelina', and So Easy Stripe Rite's 'Silver' and "Hershey's" written with Nail Art Pen by NuBar--Black. Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh BATMAN! The Dark Knight, whether played by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, or Christian Bale, he can save me any day (I'd go with Christian Bale lol and oh how I'll miss Heath Ledger as The Joker). Batman is one of my favorite super heroes, not only is his car to die for but so is that suit, who doesn't like a man in uniform lol! I can't wait for the next installment to come out in theatres. Now on to the nails...

For the base of the thumb, middle and pinky I used Orly's 'Liquid Vinyl', for the index I used Orly's 'Hook Up, and for the base of the ring finger I used Avon's Speed-Dry 'Red Rouge'. So I was like 'hey, what do most people have and almost everybody love on their bday (besides gifts lol j/k--a little)...that's right it's CAKE yummy! I'll probably get a taste for it every time I look at my nails hahaha. Well anyhow Happy Birthday to ME! Yay! Another day, another year, thank the good Lord--whew  :)

Just Plaid-ing Around

Keeping up with the prints I decided to do plaid. Plaid is awesome because there's so much you can do with it, from clothes to shoes, from jewelry to nails, the possibilities are endless. How about plaid printed cars--I don't think I've seen one and I can't say I'd jump on board with that but it would be pretty cool lol. On to the nails, of course I couldn't pick just one color lol--so on one hand I have a purple color as the base color, with the middle finger having a teal for it's base and on the other hand I chose to use the teal as the base color, with purple for the middle finger, and all types of colors for the lines heeheehee. The purple is like a surprise in a bottle, it has speckles of glitter mixed in and at first I was a little disappointed because it went on really dull but when I painted that top coat, all I can say is OMG...I was pleasantly surprised. The teal kind of reminds me of girl-scout-green, if you stare at it too long....boy I sure could go for some somoas speaking of girl scout cookies MMmmmmm...anyways lol, it went on very smooth and didn't need a top coat to make it shiny (but of course I used one). I guess I'll have to wait til next year for those cookies :(

On the right hand I used China Glaze's 'Flying Dragon' as the base for all except the middle, where I used Orly's 'Green with Envy'. For the index finger I used Kiss' Brush-on Nail Art Paint--Beach Green and Kiss' Brush-on Nail Art Paint--Neon Orange for the lines. For the other fingers I used Kiss' Brush-on Nail Art Paint--Beach Purple and So Easy's Stripe Rite--Yellow. Topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

In the Army Now

Hut 2, 3, 4! Hut 2, 3, 4! Attention, Halt! I've always had a special love for camouflage, even when it wasn't "in style". This is a mani I've been wanting to try but I thought it was gonna be really difficult, jokes on me ha-ha-ha-ha, it was actually quite easy. I think next time I'm gonna use some crazy colors or some non-military-approved colors I should say lol. Anyhow TGIF and happy Friday!

In the shade

In the sun

For the base I used Zoya's 'Shawn' , the brown I used Orly's 'Prince Charming', for the lighter green I mixed Zoya's 'Shawn' with Zoya's 'Pippa' and OPI's 'Sweet Heart', for the black O used L.A. Colors' Art Deco--Black, all topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

How I did it:

First using Seche Clear I painted a clear base

Next I painted two coats of Zoya's 'Shawn'

Using Orly's 'Prince Charming' I painted a few random spots

To make the lighter green I mixed OPI's 'Sweet Heart', Zoya's 'Pippa', and Zoya's 'Shawn'
I painted around the brown spots that  I had  painted previously

Using LA Color's Art Deco--Black I "filled" in the spaces
(be sure that some of the base green color shows through too)

All topped off with two coats of Seche Vite

P.s. please excuse the blurry photos, I'm still working on my photography skills lol
       I hope this helps : D
